Keynotes & Trainings
Ideas that change how attorneys run their practices.
Lauren Lester is a practicing attorney and the founder of A Different Practice. She has spent over a decade building a modern law practice from scratch — and shares exactly what she’s learned along the way.

About Lauren
Lauren Lester doesn’t present a model she retired from. She presents from inside a running practice — one she’s been deliberately building, testing, and refining for over a decade.
Lauren is the founder of Lester Law, a flat-fee estate-planning and prenup firm, and of A Different Practice, an education platform and community for solo attorneys. For more than ten years, she has been studying what it takes to build a sustainable, profitable client-centered law practice — and teaching what she finds along the way.
Her keynotes, trainings, and presentations are grounded in what she’s lived, not what she’s read. They qualify for CLE credit, are available virtually or in-person, and are designed to leave attendees with immediately usable frameworks, not slides they forget on the drive home.

Tech for a Better Client Experience
Lauren runs a solo flat-fee practice in Colorado. This session covers what she’s using, what she tried and abandoned, and what she wishes she’d started sooner — straight from inside an active practice, not a vendor demo.
- ›Where AI can save significant time
- ›Intake and onboarding without the back-and-forth
- ›Client communication that doesn’t require constant availability
- ›Building a tech stack that works for you
- ›How to know if a tool is worth the cost

Creating Your Own Path in Legal
Most of what we were taught about building a law practice was designed for a different era. Lauren covers the decisions she made, the trade-offs she didn’t see coming, and the things she wished someone had warned her about earlier.
- ›What it takes to build a practice on your own terms
- ›Defining success by your own metrics
- ›Finding and keeping the right clients without a marketing budget
- ›Pricing with confidence when no one around you is doing it the same way
- ›Growing without the burn out

Frequently Asked
What event planners want to know.
How long are presentations?
Most presentations run 60 minutes, but Lauren can tailor to a specific timeframe if needed. All formats include Q&A time.
What materials do attendees receive?
All attendees receive topic-specific handouts and reference frameworks, plus the deck upon request.
Can you customize the presentation for our audience?
Yes. Lauren tailors presentations to the specific organization, audience level, and context. Just share who’s in the room and what they need to walk away with.
Do you take questions from the audience?
Yes — and it’s one of Lauren’s favorite parts. Q&A is built into every format. She comes prepared to answer, drawing on a decade of actually doing this work within her own firm, not just studying it from the outside.
Does it qualify for CLE credit?
Yes — Lauren’s presentations have qualified for CLE credit in multiple jurisdictions. You’ll need to apply with your local CLE authority to confirm.
Do you present virtually or in-person?
Both are available. Virtual is often more accessible and works for audiences of any size. In-person presentations are available for a fee plus travel expenses from Denver, Colorado.
What’s your fee structure?
Virtual presentations start at a modest rate for bar associations, law schools, and legal incubators. Corporate and conference rates differ. Reach out to discuss your event.
How far in advance should we book?
Ideally, 6–8 weeks for virtual presentations and 12-14 weeks for in-person. That said, Lauren can occasionally accommodate shorter lead times — reach out and ask.
